September 30th

Abstract: The OSU Green Roof Technology Project will host a tour of the Oak Creek test plots and a discussion about the role of green roofs in the urban environment on Oct. 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 844 SW 35th St., Corvallis, Ore. 97333. The study area includes 25 test that have been covered with an engineered growing medium and planted with a variety of six different native plants.

September 20th

After completing his master-level training with OSU experts, Matt Epstein volunteered his time helping others in Jackson County, as part of the community service network that OSU Extension fosters. For the last two years, Epstein has co-chaired the statewide Extension Community Advisory Network, helping county offices of OSU Extension throughout Oregon organize their own corps of volunteers. This month, Epstein will be honored with the Governor's Volunteer Award for outstanding senior volunteer from Oregon's southwest region.

Duane Johnson, long-time Oregon 4-H youth development program leader is inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame.

OSU’s College of Agricultural Sciences announces its 26th annual art competition “Art About Agriculture Tour 2008: The Nick of Time.” Theme, and links and address for prospectus provided.

Value added processing and handling of crop and livestock products is a major force within Oregon’s agricultural economy, and an indicator of how the state’s agriculture industry shifts to meet growing global competition.
