May 31st

Oregon State University has created seven short videos to teach gardeners how to detect and manage a fruit-damaging fly that might be in their yards. In the videos, OSU Extension Service entomologist Amy Dreves demonstrates how to look for the spotted wing drosophila fly. The videos are divided into seven topics that explain how to: identify the fly, cover plants with netting, clean up fallen fruit, set multiple traps, and make, place and check traps.

May 27th

Amateur and professional gardeners, as well as trained Master Gardener volunteers are invited to attend the 27th annual Gardeners Mini College July 28–31 at Oregon State University. Early registration is due June 14 and can be done online.

May 19th

Oregon State University Extension service specialists and researchers from OSU's Department of Crop and Soil Science will host the annual Hyslop Farm Field Day on Wednesday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

May 18th

The defeat of Measure 20-158 leaves the Oregon State University Extension Service in Lane County without adequate local funding to continue existing operations. Extension is now making plans to reassign its Lane County faculty to other locations, lay off its local support staff and shut down all local programs that are not financially self-sustaining.
