Oregon State University 4-H program awards scholarships
April 14, 2006
CORVALLIS, Ore. – More than $12,000 in scholarships have been awarded to 14 Oregon 4-H members by the Extension Service 4-H Youth Development Program at Oregon State University.
"The scholarships are given to recognize exceptional accomplishments in 4-H, as well as to help with the costs of college education," said Mary Arnold, OSU Extension Service 4-H youth specialist.
The Oregon 4-H scholarship program annually gives scholarship awards to several Oregon 4-H members, Arnold added. Scholarship recipients are selected according to their achievement in 4-H activities, contributions to community and academic performance, she said.
"The donors providing support for this program see 4-H scholarships for higher education as an important investment in the future of our families and communities," Arnold noted. "The Oregon 4-H program is very grateful for these scholarships and for the individuals, businesses and organizations that give to the state scholarship program."
