Hyslop Farm Field Day is May 26

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State University Extension Service specialists and researchers from OSU's Department of Crop and Soil Science will host the annual Hyslop Farm Field Day on Wednesday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Field day, which is free and open to the public, will focus on cereal, grass and oil seed crops. Topics will be presented in both morning and afternoon sessions. The OSU Crops Club will prepare a no-cost lunch at noon, which will feature as guest speaker Sonny Ramaswamy, dean of the OSU College of Agricultural Sciences.
Cereal topics will include winter wheat varieties and diseases in the Willamette Valley; the value of municipal bio-solids as a nitrogen fertilizer replacement; sulfur fertilizers; testing for soil quality; winter wheat fertility trials; and winter barley.
Grass and oil seed topics will explore these crops as efficient biological solar energy collectors; the biological effects of nitrogen management on winter canola production; a Yellow Dwarf Virus update; broadleaf weed control in grass seed production and meadowfoam breeding; bugs, slugs and alien Ephichloe; and bumblebees in the Willamette Valley.
Hyslop Farm is located six miles northeast of Corvallis on Granger Road, just off of Highway 20. Watch for signs.
