OSU announces agricultural honors scholarships

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Agricultural honors scholarships totaling $85,400 have been awarded to Oregon State University students in the College of Agricultural Sciences.

The scholarships are made possible by gifts to the OSU college. Recipients of the 2010 scholarships and their hometowns are listed. See end of the list for out-of-state students.

ALBANY: Myriah Short, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Eugene H. Fisher Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

ASTORIA: Emily Johnson, freshman majoring in food science and technology, received the $1,000 Clifford Smith Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

BEND: Nicholas Vora, junior majoring in rangeland ecology and management, received the $1,000 Charles E. and Clara Marie Eckelman Scholarship and $1,000 from John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

CORVALLIS: Jordyn Coon, freshman majoring in general agriculture, received the $1,000 Wilco Farmers Agricultural Honors Scholarship, the $1,000 John and Florence Scharff Agricultural Honors Scholarship, and the $2,000 Jess Hanson Scholarship. Anna Spatafora, freshman majoring in food science and technology, received the $1,000 Lawrence E. & Marguerite Kaseberg Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship, $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund and the $2,000 Jess Hanson Scholarship.

DALLAS: Derek Burbank, freshman majoring in agricultural business management, received the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and the $1,000 Karla S. Chambers Leadership Agricultural Honors Scholarship. Kathryn Darby, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Frank Burlingham Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

EUGENE: Lauren Furrer, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and $1,000 from the Agricultural Honors Scholarship Program Fund on behalf of Lane County Farm Bureau Scholarship.

FLORENCE: Sarah Butte, sophomore majoring in food science and technology, received $1,000 from the Agricultural Honors Scholarship Program Fund on behalf of Lane County Farm Bureau Scholarship.

HARRISBURG: Peter Cersovski, junior majoring in agricultural business management, received the $1,000 Jernstedt Family Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Rod and Ruby Frakes Scholarship.

IMBLER: Nicholas West, freshman majoring in environmental economics, policy and management, received the $1,000 Savery Agricultural Honors Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

KLAMATH FALLS: Sarah Kellom, junior majoring in agricultural business management, received $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund and the $1,000 Grange Co-op Agricultural Honors Scholarship. Tyson Snider, freshman majoring in general agriculture, received the $1,000 Summers Agricultural Honors Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

MOLALLA: Chelsea Imdieke, freshman majoring in food science and technology, received the $1,000 A/B Technologies International, Inc. Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

MORO: Erik Glover, freshman majoring in agricultural business management, received the $1,000 Wilco Farmers Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

MURPHY: Josh Smith, freshman majoring in agriculture business management, received the $1,000 Savery Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

PILOT ROCK: Sara Mills, junior majoring in agricultural business management, received the $1,000 Eugene H. Fisher Agricultural Honors Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

PORTLAND: Kiersten Forsyth, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Frank Burlingham Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund. Stephanie Lutz, junior majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Paul and Frances Montecucco Beginning Venture Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

SCIO: Jana Schiely, freshman majoring in agricultural business management, received $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund, the $1,000 Savery Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,400 One at a Time Foundation Scholarship.

SHERWOOD: Jessica Budge, freshman majoring in general agriculture, received the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and the $1,000 Oregon Women for Agriculture Scholarship.

SILVER LAKE: Andre Borlak, freshman majoring in food science and technology, received the $1,000 Lawrence E. and Marguerite Kaseberg Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship, $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund and the $1,500 Ag Sciences Scholarship (CAS Scholarship Fund). Daniel Miles, freshman majoring in general agriculture, received the $1,000 A/B Technologies International, Inc. Agricultural Honors Scholarship, the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and the $1,500 V. Kent Searles and Nancy J. Billingsley Searles Scholarship.

TILLAMOOK: Hayden Bush, freshman majoring in general agriculture, received the $1,000 Wilco Farmers Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 John & Florence Scharff Agricultural Honors Scholarship. Stephanie Jenck, junior majoring in crop and soil science, received the Tillamook County Creamery Association Agricultural Honors Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. WEST LINN: Melanie Leschorn, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Clayton Fox Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska: Rebecca Walker, sophomore majoring in food science and technology, received the $1,000 Frank Burlingham Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

CORNING, Calif.: Lee Hofman, freshman majoring in general agriculture, received the $1,000 Fisher Farm and Lawn Agricultural Honors Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

DELHI, India: Gitanshu Munjal, freshman majoring in crop and soil science, received the $1,000 Loren J. Smith Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

MERIDIAN, Idaho: Megan Kelsch, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Clayton Fox Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

LANSING, Ill.: Ryan King, junior majoring in horticulture, received the $1,000 Jernstedt Family Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

CINCINNATI, Ohio: Matthew Keefe, freshman majoring in food science and technology, received the $1,000 Clifford Smith Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn.: Leanna Van Slambrook, junior majoring in crop and soil science, received the $1,000 Loren J. Smith Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Johnny R. and Helen H. Thomas Scholarship.

PARK CITY, Utah: Mary Allen, freshman majoring in environmental science, received the $1,000 Summers Agricultural Honors Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah: Kelsey Pizac, freshman majoring in animal science, received the $1,000 Charles E. and Clara Marie Eckelman Scholarship and $1,000 from the John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.
