Applications to participate in the tour are due April 28, 2009 and should be submitted on the NACAA website at http://www.nacaa.com/awards/. This year's tour will have a modified format. The tour will begin in Boise, ID and end in Portland, OR. We will NOT be returning to Boise to recover vehicles or extra luggage. Participants, please plan your travel accordingly.

Oregon State University Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center, Union, OR - The oldest branch experiment station in Oregon, this 2600 acre site conducts important beef cattle nutrition and grazing research on forested rangelands typical of the intermountain west. USDA Starkey Experimental Forest and Range, LaGrande, OR - The largest research enclosure ever built to study wildlife (25,000 acres or 40 square miles). The primary research focus of the Starkey Project is interactions between elk, deer, cattle, logging, and recreation on intensively managed forest lands. Pendleton Woolen Mills, Pendleton, OR - Pendleton has a legacy for quality in the Native American blankets and 100% virgin wool clothing produced in their northwest mills. Pendleton Round-Up, Pendleton, OR - The 99th annual Pendleton Round-Up, one of North America's oldest, largest, and most prestigious outdoor rodeo will be in full swing during our brief time in Pendleton. Threemile Canyon Farms, LLC, Boardman, OR - This state of the art 16,000 cow dairy was established in recent years on a 93,000 acre farming complex to supply milk for the new Tillamook Cheese plant located in Boardman. (http://www.threemilecanyonfarms.com/)
Beef Northwest, Boardman, OR - This 40,000 head beef finishing yard is part of a network of three feedyards operated by Beef NW with a combined one-time capacity of 95,000 head. Multnomah Falls - The second-tallest, year-round waterfall in the nation. The water of the Falls drop 620 feet from its origin on Larch Mountain (http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/columbia/millennium2/welcome.htm). We will visit the Falls as we travel I84 through the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area (http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/columbia/) on our way to the AM/PIC site in Portland, OR.

1 Boise, ID is in the Mountain Daylight Time Zone and Portland, OR is in the Pacific Daylight Time Zone. We will cross from Mountain time to Pacific time shortly after crossing the Idaho/Oregon border.
