A crock of what?
I have been fermenting saurkraut in my crocks and just discovered small larvae inside the lid... How do I prevent that next year? Do you know what they are?- Washington County, OR
Our fermenting instructions call for placing a clean bath towel over the crock. This allows air flow but keeps any flying insects out that might lay eggs there.
Is it a wooden lid, where the larvae might have been hidden before you started fermenting?
If you are able to take one of the larvae in to your local Extension office, the Master Gardeners should be able to help identify them, which may give some clues about their appearance.
