To Mow or not to Mow

Q:

Should I mow the lawn in winter?

- Clackamas County, OR
A:

With the warm fall, turf grass has continued growing in recent months. If you mow your lawn now, you likely will not need to mow again until March, when temperatures increase and the grass starts to grow rapidly. If you do mow now, make sure to rake up the cuttings or use a mulch mower to chop up the material finely. Also, winter is a great time to perform maintenance on your mower, particularly getting the blades sharpened for next spring.
