Q:

In which phase of the moon is it best to plant fall garlic?

- Lane County, Oregon
A:

Lunar gardeners suggest that planting garlic during the waning crescent phase of the moon is best.

However, its important to point out that the purported benefits of gardening by the moon are not supported (or refuted) by research. Thus, I can't say with confidence that planting garlic in the waning crescent phase will help or hurt your garlic harvest. Instead, we suggest an overall season (start of fall through early-mid November) as the best time to plant garlic.
