Woodland Education Programs
Basic Woodland Management Workshop Series Registration & Information Packet
This workshop series provides an overview of concepts and practices for family forest owners and others who own small tracts of forest land. Learn skills, get practical advice, and meet other experienced forest owners. This class is a great starting point for improving your woodland stewardship skills, whether you are a new owner, one who has not been actively managing your woodland, or are just interested in the topics! MASTER WOODLAND MANAGER MWM Training Summer/Fall 2008
This program includes 11 modules covering a variety of forestry topics: reforestation, management planning, forest insect and diseases, timber stand improvement, silviculture, business management, forestry assistance, forest measurements, watersheds and wildlife management, and timber harvesting. Most training sessions will be held on Saturdays. The training involves a commitment of 8-12 hrs. per month, and will take place over a 10-month period. The training involves in-class lectures, demonstrations and field trips. Participants receive numerous handouts, publications and fact sheets. OSU Extension Service/Jackson Small Woodlands Association monthly programs.
Co-sponsored by the Jackson Small Woodlands Association and the OSU Extension Service, these monthly educational programs are free and open to the public! Programs are generally held the third Thursday of the month, 7 PM, at the Extension Auditorium, 569 Hanley Road, Central Point. Tours are often held the following Saturday. Attending these meetings is a great way to pick up some woodland management tips and rub shoulders with fellow landowners.
