- Introduction to Farming with Draft Horses
Saturday, October 17, 2009; 9 am - 2 pm;
COST: $30
9-11 am: Basic horsemanship, hoof care, harness purchasing and care, and basic horse farming introduction.
11 am - noon: Break for lunch
12 - 2 pm: Ploughing, discing, harrow and cover crop seeding demonstration.
Instructors: From the Southern Oregon Draft & Harness Association.
LOCATION: Hanley Farm, 1053 Hanley Rd, between Jacksonville and Central Point.

- Introduction To Carpentry for Women Farmers
COST: $35.00
This is an introductory carpentry class taught by women and designed for women farmers. It is an excellent beginner course or refresher course for women interested in gaining confidence in their use of power tools and building skills. The learning environment is safe, comfortable, and fun. We will be covering basic power tool safety and use. Power tools include circular saws, cordless drills, sawzalls,jig saws and chop saws. The class project, building a horse tack shed and composting toilet, is oriented to educate participants in how to use skills in real world applications. Pre-registration required. - ANNUAL POTLUCK AND MEMBERSHIP MEETING, LEAGUE OF WOMEN FARMERS

Women farmers are encouraged to join us for our annual membership meeting and potluck to discuss the upcoming year's program. Bring a dish to share and ideas for next season.
