Study Groups (FCE)

JACKSON COUNTY FAMILY & COMMUNITY EDUCATION (FCE)

The Jackson County FCE is an organization of people participating in educational study groups. We have study groups around the county that meet once a month.  FCE can expand your knowledge and horizons.  We are a nonprofit volunteer organization, in partnerhsip with the Oregon State University Extension Service. Our mission is to strengthen individuals and famiies through continuing education, leadership development and community service. Monthly lessons are given and open to the general public. In Oregon for information on FCE and similar community education groups in your area contact your local OSU Extension office (Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center, SOREC, 541-776-7371).

Some of the things that Jackson County FCE is involved in is getting books to children, FCE Essay and Artwork Contest for fourth graders, participating in international programs, supporting 4-H and for FCE Scholarship at the College of Health and Human Sciences at OSU.

OSU developed training materials

Each year OSU develops two or three lessons including background and materials for teachers and participants on topics of community importance. These are available for FCE groups and others who deliver community education through a "train-the-trainer" model.
