How Do I Become a Master Food Preserver?

The Tillamook County Master Food Preserver Program trains and  certifies adult volunteers in proper food preservation and safe food handling techniques. In return for the 42 hours of training, volunteers assist others in learning correct food safety and preservation practices. Upon completion of the course, pass an open-book certification examination and complete 42 service hours during the food preservation season.

  • Food Safety
  • Boiling Water Canning—Fruits, Pie
  • Fillings, Jams/Jellies, Pickles,
  • Tomatoes & Salsa 
  • Pressure Canning—Vegetables, Meat,
  • Poultry, Fish, & Legumes
  • Freezing, Drying & Fermentation
  • And more

Course fee: $125 with volunteer payback or $250 without volunteer payback
