Since 1989 OSU Extension Service of Tillamook County, OSU Master Gardeners, and Tillamook County Master Gardener Association has supported our local "Demonstration Garden" at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds in Tillamook.

The Demonstration Garden is a wheelchair accessible garden with multiple beds including native plants, vegetable, herb, xeriscape/deer resistant, and woody ornamentals. Also, there is a changing theme children's garden, composting area, wheelchair accessible raised beds, two water features and a miniature Zen garden.

Produce grown in the garden is donated to the Tillamook County Food Bank. 4-H Horticulture clubs use the garden, and students from the Tillamook High School Alternative Education "Options" program conduct community service and receive horticultural education.

During the 2009 Tillamook County Fair, the Demonstration Garden yielded 1166 visitors.  To date - August 2009 - over 832 volunteer hours have been invested in the garden surpassing previous year's totals by 300 hours.  Much of the labor can be seen in new cottage stone herb beds, the Adaptive Gardening Bed ('handicap bed') and the Fuschsia behind the shed and the Russian sage.  The outer east edge of the garden has been refurbished creating a permanent "Deer Resistant Bed".  The "Drought Resistant Bed" has been transformed into a "Butterfly Garden".  Come out and see all the changes.

OSU Master Gardeners can be found working in the garden weekly throughout the year.
