The fruit industries generate more than $85 million dollars per year and the wine grape industry is steadily gaining on this figure. Apples are still the main crop by volume produced in the Valley, however, in terms of acreage, wine grapes are set to become the leader within the next few years. Where wine grapes are concerned, it is no surprise that more than 60% of the wine grapes processed in the Valley are produced on the Oregon side of the state line and this is set to increase to more than 80% with new vineyard expansions taking place on the Seven Hills. Indeed it is from this area that we proudly boast of one of the “Top Ten Vineyards of the World." The superlative terroir of the Walla Walla Appellation is mainly influenced by the climate, rocky soils and excellent water quality. This unique combination has produced some of the best noble cultivars the world has seen and it is only a matter of time before this hidden gem in far flung eastern Oregon sets the world wine palate on fire.
