StrongWomen Program
A National Fitness Program for Women

The StrongWomen Program was developed by Miriam Nelson, PhD, an associate professor at the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Freidman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. The StrongWomen Program is based upon years of research on how strength training and proper nutrition improve the health of women of all ages. The program is appropriate for both sedentary and very active women.
Program Benefits
The benefits of strength training for older women have been studied extensively and include:
- Increased muscle mass and strength
- Improved bone density and reduced risk for osteoporosis and related fractures
- Reduces risk for diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression, and obesity
- Improved self-confidence, sleep, and vitality.

Cost: $25 for initial 8 week series, $15 for each additional 8 week series thereafter

Weights are provided. Registration involves completing the Tufts University health status/medical status questionnaires. In some cases a health providers permission may be required. For more information about the Union County classes, or to pick up your registration packet, call (541) 963-1010.
