PEER OUTREACH EVENT

The Cove Super Snacks hosted there second peer outreach event this fall. The club's goal was to promote the eating of fruits and vegetables as a healthy snack.  The following is a summary written by club members of their outreach activity:

The Cove 4-H SNACZ club put together a booth at the Cove Fall Bazar.  We as a club are trying to promote healthy eating.  When the people came to our booth they had a chance to spin the “wheel of food” which had different types of veggies and then try a snack made from the vegetable the wheel landed on.  When you tried the different types of snacks you also got the recipe for that snack. We also had a matching game, if they matched a veggie with the right fact they got a 4-H prize.  The prizes they could choose from were: mini Frisbees, water bottles, sunglasses, stickers and temporary tattoos.

We found out that a lot of people, kids and adults, liked our booth.  The weather that day was cold, but that didn’t stop people from coming.  A bunch of people in Union County came and ate our snacks and played games.  We hoped they learned some things about healthy snacks.
