Indian Head Gaming Center

The 25,000 foot Indian Head Casino is located at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort,at the heart of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. Indian Head has 6 blackjack tables and 3 poker tables. Also, more than 300 slot machines ranging from five cents to five dollars.

This casino is the smallest Oregon gaming center set within the state's largest Indian Reservation. The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs prudently developed the gaming center without an outside management company and with its own funding resources.

What made this enterprise possible was the conservative construction process, the diverse tribal financial resources and a tribal member with gaming experience. Former Indian Head Casino Manager Aurolyn Watlamet was asked by the tribal council to aid in the development of a gaming center. Jeff Ford is now the manager.

Indian Head Gaming Center is strategically located at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort. The Resort was the tribe's first enterprise which expanded its financial diversity from the natural resources of timber and water, which remain the primary economic and employment opportunity for the tribal members.

Kah-Nee-Ta is located deep within Indian Head Canyon located on the high desert in north-central Oregon. The Resort focuses around a hot spring providing therapeutic as well as recreational facilities to its guests. The water is so hot it actually has to be cooled before reaching its human indulgers!

Typical resort activities such as championship, 18-hole golf course, fishing and rafting, horseback riding and various resort opportunities are presented within generations of culture. Tribal dancers, drummers and local artists provide entertainment and Native American arts and crafts, routinely.

An Indian "village" is located near the hot springs for those brave hearts who would like to rent a teepee for the evening. Customary accommodations include a 139-room luxury hotel and cottages. Tour busses passing through "Indian Country" are a common sight.

The lodge boasts two fine restaurants, banquet facilities for up to 800 people and an oversize pool and sauna. The Village offers a riverside restaurant, snack bar and the hot springs-related facilities. The casino at Indian Head Gaming Center, in addition to the gambling fun, includes a deli and a arcade.

The Museum at Warm Springs hosts one of the nation's finest Native American presentations. It tells the story of the Paiute, Warm Springs and Wasco who comprise the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.

Inside, visitors can hear ancient songs and languages, see traditional beadwork and baskets and learn about the traditional uses of roots and salmon. Traveling exhibits as well as culture-related educational programs are on-going at the museum.

The Resort maintains two gift shops where groups find clothing and jewelry. At the casino, a unique gift shop features an assortment of Native American-made gifts. The Museum at Warm Springs' gift shop specializes in cultural-related items. It features beadwork, jewelry, baskets and books. Columbia River salmon products, Mt. Jefferson huckleberry jam and the Pendleton blankets are in demand.
