Wasco County 4-H Camps and Trainings
The Wasco County 4-H program offers a variety of day and residential camps and topic specific clinics, trainings and events.
Mid Columbia Spring Horse Classic
The Horse Classic event includes the Horse Bowl, Horse Judgin, Hippology and Presentations/Public Speaking contests. The 2014 event is scheduled for Saturday, March 15.
Camp Counselor Program
Trained Teen Counselors are needed for all camps. The Columbia Gorge Camp Counselor Training Program is designed to train older youth to serve as camp counselors at any youth camp, including 4-H Camp Morrow. Though counselors need to be high-school aged, youth in grades 7 and up from Sherman, Hood River and Wasco County are invited to attend the trainings which are scheduled for January 20, 2014 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and February 9, 2014 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Counselors chosen for 4-H Camp will also meet 5/4 and 6/1 & 17.
4-H Tri-County Leadership Camp is for youth in grades 7-12. It is a 3 day, 2 night camp held at Camp Morrow on the Pine Hollow Reservoir near Wamic each Spring. Youth will get the camp experience of campfire, mess hall traditions, and social events while learning leadership, citizenship and civic engagement skills. 2014 dates are April 4-6.

The Leadership Camp is planned and implemented by a team of high school aged 4-H members from Wasco, Hood River and Sherman Counties.
HEARTH Spring Event
The annual HEARTH Spring Event is for 4-H youth in grades 4th-12th. Focus is on the HEARTH project areas (Horticulture, Expressive Arts, and Home Ec). This year's event will be on Saturday, April 12th.

4-H Camp Morrow is for youth in grades 4-6. It is a 4 day, 3 night camp held at Camp Morrow on the Pine Hollow Reservoir near Wamic, OR the third week of June. 2014 dates are June 18-21.

Summer Day Camps
Several summer day camps are sponsored by the OSU Wasco County 4-H Youth Development program. The grades listed are the grades the child will enter in the fall. Partial scholarships are available.
PLEASE NOTE the following errors were in the Community Guide that went out from Parks and Rec concerning our camps: Babysitting Camp is June 30th NOT the 20th and the early bird deadline for Camp Morrow is May 27th NOT May 30th. These errors are corrected in the guide below as well as on the registration form. We are sorry for an inconvenience this may cause.
Topic Specific Trainings and Events
The Babysitting Training is designed for youth in grades 6 and up to gain the knowledge and skills needed to be successful babysitters. Lessons include first aid and safety, nutrition and preparing food, playing with children of all ages, and running a babysitting business.
Horse Classic, a multi-contest event that includes Horse Bowl, Horse Judging, Hippology, Presentations and Public Speaking is scheduled for March 15, 2014 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
