Vision Statement

Everyone deserves a nurturing family and caring community. Oregon State University Extension Family and Community Development strengthens Oregon families through interdisciplinary education programs and community partnerships.

Mission Statement

Extension's family and community development program offers educational opportunities to help Oregon families meet the practical challenges of daily life. Educational programs address critical issues for individuals and families and help Oregonians become healthy, financially secure, and responsible members of society. This mission is carried out with the involvement of professionals, volunteers and support staff who organize and conduct educational experiences in group, community, and family settings, and through the media.

Situation Statement

We live in extraordinary times. Major social, technological, and economic changes affect the lives of everyone. Individuals, both youth and adults, face complex challenges that require caring, supporting families and communities.

Strategic Goals

1. We will strengthen the capacity of families to create and manage resources.
2. We will strengthen the capacity of families to maintain overall health and wellness.
3. We will strengthen the capacity of families and communities to be partners in building strong families and caring, safe communities.
