Citizen Participation Organization Program
From Your OSU Extension Service Staff
Following the announcement in November by Oregon State University Extension Service that it will no longer serve as administrator of the Washington County CPO Program, here is more information about the transition.
Daily operations of the CPOs remain unchanged. Currently, County administrative staff and CPO representatives on the Committee for Citizen Involvement (CCI) are engaged in developing a transition process proposal. County administrative staff introduced a draft proposal at the December CCI meeting for comment and discussion, and the Board of Commissioners approved the proposal at their Worksession on January 13th. The proposal includes timeline and planning-level details.
There will be opportunities in the year ahead for CPO participants, the community at-large, and County partners to be involved in the transition process. A CPO leader has started a community blog to get more people talking about how to maintain and improve a successful participation system in Washington County. Please sign up and join the discussion: http://washcocpofuture.wordpress.com/
Follow the CPO Program’s website (http://extension.oregonstate.edu/washington/cpo) regularly for updates, links and key documents. You also can check the CCI page to follow its activity, and CCI meeting recordings will be posted online. All CCI meetings are open to the public.
OSU Extension Service sincerely appreciates serving the Washington County community. If you have any questions, please contact CPO Program Coordinators Dan Schauer, 503-821-1123, or Beth St. Amand, 503-821-1114.
