Metro to Fund Aloha Town Center/TV Hwy Transit-Oriented
A $400,000 Community Planning and Development Grant award was presented by Metro to the County Board of Commissioners on October 13th. The plan will refine land use and transportation concepts for the Aloha Town Center and adjacent portions of the TV Hwy Corridor. It includes:
- Refining the concept of a town center at TV Hwy and 185th as recommended in the Aloha-Reedville Study and Livable Community Plan and Metro’s 2040 Growth Concept.
- Continue studying high-capacity transit options along the TV Hwy Corridor as recomemmended in the TV Highway Corridor Plan.
- Developing designs for transportation improvements.
- Working with community partners to preserve and provide affordable housing.
Three road safety improvement projects recommended in CPO 6
Seven Safety Improvement Projects were recommended by the Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee (URMDAC) on Oct. 21 for inclusion in the 2016-17 Road Maintenance Program. Three are in CPO 6:
- Augusta Lane from Pheasant Lane to #17415 - sidewalk along the north side.
- Farmington Road from 173rd Avenue to #5215 SW 170th Avenue - paved pathway along north side.
- Rigert Road from 175th Avenue- paved pathway on south side.
URMDAC's recommendations included consideration of public comment submitted during a six-week public comment period. After review by County staff, the Road Maintenance Program will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners for approval in June 2016.
