Harold Haynes Award Presented to Kathy Stallkamp
The Washington County Committee for Citizen Involvement (CCI) presented the Harold M. Haynes Citizen Involvement Award to Kathy Stallkamp on June 21, 2011 during their regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the OSU Extension Service Office, 18640 NW Walker Road, Room 1411, Beaverton.
The award is presented each year to a neighbor or neighbors who made a significant individual or group contribution to his or her Citizen Participation Organization (CPO) and the community. Nominations are submitted to the CCI for a vote by ballot. The other nominees this year were Cherry Ambisca, Henry Benitez, Greg Mecklem and Roy Kim.
Ms. Stallkamp is being honored for her many years of service to CPO 4K (King City) and her leadership in the community. She has served as Co-Chair and Chair of CPO 4K beginning in 2002. As CPO Chair she has successfully worked with partners to get a signal at SW 131st and Beef Bend Road, helped resolve other public safety issues, and worked to help neighbors resolve concerns about drainage and flooding. Through her leadership the CPO has obtained CPO Special Project funds to help beautify the Deer Creek Elementary campus with flower planting, and conducted a clean-up on Fischer Road. In addition to her CPO involvement Kathy has been active serving on the Deer Creek Elementary Parent Support Organization and the Timberwolf Support Organization (TSO). In 2009 Kathy spearheaded efforts to keep the Tigard-Tualatin School District swimming pools open, working through the intricacies of collecting signatures, creating a ballot measure to form a Special District, and then running for office and serving as Aquatic District Board President once the ballot measure for the District passed in May 2010. Kathy continues her unflagging energetic and thoughtful participation in community affairs and making the community a better place for all of us.
