Join 4-H
Joining or starting a 4-H club is a great way to have fun, learn new skills and meet new and interesting people.
4-H is a youth outreach program of the Oregon State University Extension Service. It is open to all youth in kindergarten through 12th grade. 4-H teaches young people life skills like responsibility, critical thinking, communication and more through educational clubs. It costs $22 per year to join 4-H if enrolled by December 31st or $27 if enrolling from January up to the May 1st deadline. There may also be costs relating to the project books and materials. Clubs are lead by adult volunteers who coordinate regular meetings and activities that meet educational goals within a project area. Youth in grades 4-12 enroll in specific projects of interest. Youth in grades K-3 join Cloverbud Clubs which explore a variety of subjects and do not concentrate on a single topic.
4-H is a family integrated activity. Parents are expected to assist their children in their respective project(s). For example, youth with animals may need help with the feed and care of the animal as well as covering related costs. It works best when parents can share a common interest with the child, like gardening, robotics, shooting sports etc. Each club leader sets the expectations for parental involvement.WANT TO JOIN? MEMBERSHIP FORMS for 2009-2010
To enroll in 4-H for the 2009-2010 year, please download and print the 4 forms attached below (Enrollment, Health and Code of Conduct, & Consent Form). The first 3 of the forms must be completed and turned in to the OSU Yamhill Extension office with appropriate fees by December 31st. An extra fee will be added after that date.
Fees: The cost to join 4-H in Yamhill county will be $22 per member if enrolled by December 31st. For the remaining 4-H year, the cost will be $27 per member. Familiies with more than 2 children in 4-H will be assessed only $7.00 per child after the first 2. These fees include the accident insurance premium. Checks should be made out to "OSU Extension".
