Program Overview The program is open to all interested gardeners in Yamhill County. Volunteers who successfully complete both the initial training and volunteer service gain the title of OSU Extension Master Gardeners™. To remain active in the program each year volunteers must attend 12 hours of continuing education classes and donate 10 hours of service in approved educational activities, such as answering questions at the help desk or volunteering at an approved community project.
Training Sessions are held on 10 consecutive Thursdays (from January to March) from 9am-4pm. Topics include: basic botany, proper pruning techniques, the care and selection of plants, insect identification and management, disease diagnosis and others important to gardeners of the region. Instructors include OSU faculty, knowledgeable practitioners, or experienced OSU Master Gardeners.

The Tiller Newsletter is published monthly, jointly sponsored by the Yamhill County OSU Master Gardener™ Program and the Yamhill County Master Gardener™ Association. It includes a calendar of upcoming events and regionally appropriate gardening news and feature columns.

The Yamhill County Master Gardener Association™
Yamhill County Master Gardener™ Association (YCMGA) is a non-profit organization founded to assist the educational mission of OSU Master Gardener Program in Yamhill County. Membership is open to anyone who has completed the OSU Master Gardener training and is interested in furthering his or her education and commitment. Yamhill County Association support of the OSU Extension Master Gardeners includes: demonstration gardens, providing gardening advice to the public, mentoring new trainees, teaching classes and workshops, creating and providing demonstrations, hosting regular program meetings and holding one or more annual plant sales as fundraisers (mostly supporting horticultural education).
