LBCC Livestock Judging Clinic
3521 Southwest Campus Way
Corvallis, OR 97333
It has been a tradition at LBCC to organize and manage a summer livestock judging clinic. We do so as we feel passionate about the livestock judging program and the long-term benefits that students gain from participating in this activity. It is our goal to introduce more students to this program and help those students who already have an interest develop their skills.
This year’s clinic will focus on the importance of oral reasons and the necessary classroom time to establish an effective foundation. We will meet at the OSU James E. Oldfield Animal Teaching Facility and rotate through two sessions where time will be spent formatting competitive oral reasons. Monday afternoon and Tuesday will feature live animal evaluation with a focus on current industry standards. Linn-Benton Community College will provide lunch for participants on Tuesday.
Content: Discussions on industry trends (market & breeding) in beef, sheep, goats and swine. Utilizing EPD’s and alternative performance measures in animal selection for all species and the effective use of contemporary terminology and organization and delivery of competitive oral reasons.
Cost: $50.00 per person (youth and adults) INCLUDES: Classroom instruction, hands on evaluation experience, progressive terminology, and sample reasons from past and current LBCC Livestock Judging Team members, plus lunch on Tuesday.
Please complete the pre-registration and send payment (or call) by: Friday, June 15th.
