Get Involved (Enrollment)

For more than 100 years, 4-H has assisted youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to find their "spark" and become self-directing, productive members of society. 4-H is an informal, practical, learn-by-doing educational program for youth. All youth ages 5 to 19 are welcome to learn with 4-H through our many program offerings!

Age groups are determined by the youth’s age on September 1st of the current school year.

  • 5 - 8 year olds are CLOVERBUDS
  • 9 – 11 year olds are JUNIORS
  • 12 – 14 year olds are INTERMEDIATES
  • 15 – 19 year olds are SENIORS

Younger youth ages 5-8 are considered "Cloverbuds," and have special opportunities available to them. At this age, they're encouraged to explore a wide variety of project areas through club activities, day camps, classes, and showing off their work at the County Fair!

Youth ages 9 and up are full-fledged members of 4-H! At this time, they're encouraged to dive deeper into their project areas by participating in club activities, attending project workshops, attending camp, doing community service, competing at Eastern Oregon Livestock Show, Union County Fair and State Fair, and continuing involvement in our educational and leadership development programming!

Teenaged members of 4-H, on top of participating in their projects, are given access to special leadership roles in their clubs, scholarships, and participation in leadership programs such as camp counseling and the 4-H Ambassador's club.

If you're 19 or older (and have finished high school), you can stay involved by becoming a volunteer! Volunteers can do a wide variety of work with 4-H! They lead and help clubs, they help run our fairs and contests, they coordinate funding and member support opportunities, and they teach a variety of skills and educational workshops.
