My roses have not lost their leaves and are putting on new growth but it’s only January! Should I prune now or wait? I live in the Willamette Valley.
This is a hard call as the mornings are still really cold and could get colder yet. Normally we would prune early February, but I think we are close enough to our normal date to go ahead, especially if you are on the valley floor. If you live on the surrounding hills, perhaps not. I think this may well be one of our early springs, despite the snow on the higher elevations this morning.
