Engage your students with nature/outdoors as part of your regular curriculum. Pilot the new educational interpretive hike with Finley staff focused on habitats at the Woodpecker Loop.  Using the WILD guide and Upland Prairie Ecology Field Cards we will further explore prairie habitats and what makes them special. Willamette Valley prairie habitat supports many of our native pollinators, butterflies and threatened plants.  This workshop is for teachers and informal educators wanting to use school grounds and nearby natural areas for study, and/or to support your Outdoor School Experience by helping you, the educator, to feel more comfortable teaching outside the classroom.

During the workshop you will use multiple perspectives, observational skills, and address NGSS Science and Engineering Practices and align with Common Core State Standards. Participants who attend the full day will receive the Project WILD Activity Guide, the Upland Prairie Ecology Field Card set, and other science based resources. This professional development is offered in partnership with Oregon Natural Resource Education Program and the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
