Mason Bee Class
Mason bees help with pollination in gardens, farms and nature. Learn how to care for their cocoons so these bees can benefit your plants.
In nature only about 30% of the cocoons survive, but with our help we can get about 90% of the cocoons to survive. You will get a review of how the native Mason Bees help with pollination Learn how to harvest, clean, and store the cocoons. See first hand what is in the tubes or blocks. You will likely see examples of pests, mold, and a fungus that affect the cocoons.
You can bring your tubes and/or blocks, but we can also provide tubes and/or blocks for you to open during the class if you do not have mason bees yet. Mason bee houses, mason bee supplies and pollinator related books will be for sale. You can also pre-order Willamette Valley mason bee cocoons. However, cocoons will NOT be picked up until March 2019.
Presented in partnership with Benton Soil and Water Conservation District.
