Hopkins invites you for our monthly COMMUNITY FORESTRY VOLUNTEER DAY & Lunch in the Woods.
All are welcome and your help is greatly appreciated!
This month's featured projects and events:
- Wetland Pond Restoration and Native Planting Preparations
We will be preparing the Wetland Pond ‘restoration area’ for planting on March 10th. We need to do some finishing work on the interpretive trail, inventory and address invasive plant issues, and flag off restoration areas from public access.
- Red Alder Small Diameter Logs/Winter Clean-up
With the recent wind events and snow in the forecast, we still need to clear some downed trees and large branches from our trails. In the process, we need to produce some small diameter ‘firewood’ sized red alder logs for the Tree School workshop on Shiitake mushroom inoculation.
- Milling Operations
If we have enough volunteers we will also be running the sawmill and begin processing the log deck of Douglas-fir.
- Lunch provided for volunteers @ 12:30
