The OSU Extension Nutrition Education program relies on volunteers to demonstrate how to create healthy, budget-friendly meals.

13% of people in Deschutes County are at risk of hunger and rely on food pantries to supplement their food purchases. The OSU Extension Nutrition Education Volunteers demonstrate healthy recipes at food pantries and encourage people to take steps toward a healthier lifestyle.

  • Get to know your community.
  • Work alongside people who feel as strongly as you do about healthy lifestyles and helping others.
  • Volunteering can make you happier and healthier!

Volunteer applicants participate in a five-hour training session and commit to volunteering at least six times a year.

The next volunteer training is on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. To apply complete and return the application to Katie Ahern, Family & Community Health Instructor at Katherine.ahern@oregonstate.edu  by Wednesday, January 28th. For more information, call 541-548-6088.

We look forward to hearing from you!
