Camping with Your Dried Fruits & Vegetables
Save on your worry about cold storage management on your camping trip by incorporating dried foods into your menu planning. Save preparation time, too, at your campsite by making your own dried fruits, vegetables and herbs. Learn how, at a “hands-on” workshop led by OSU Extension Master Food Preserver Mary Lowe, assisted by other Central Oregon Master Food Preservers. Participants will learn about equipment needed, tips to save money when shopping for produce, see demonstrations to preserve high quality dried fruits, vegetables and herbs, and then help prepare and taste a variety of these foods to sample.
The workshop will be on Thursday, June 21, at the Oregon State University Extension/Deschutes County office at the Fairgrounds in Redmond, 9:00 AM to noon. Cost of the workshop is $15.00. The registration fee includes products made in the lab, recipes and “how-to” booklets. Class size is limited. The deadline for registration is Tuesday, June 19. Register by contacting the office at the contact information below. Class size is limited.
