Canning Tomatoes Safely

The session will be taught by Glenda Hyde, OSU Extension Service community educator, and Master Food Preserver volunteers on Wednesday, September 25, 9:00 AM to noon. During the class, participants will learn about the selection and steps to safely can tomatoes with great quality. Then, the participants will have some fun preparing a jar of Tomatoes and a jar of Stewed Tomatoes to take home and share with family and friends. Everyone will get up-to-date, tested recipes from reliable resources and tips on entering these preserved foods at the county fair.
The cost of the class is $15.00 per person, and can be paid that day. Register in advance by calling the OSU Extension Service office in Redmond, 541-548-6088 by Monday, September 23. The class size is limited.
