HEARTH projects

Projects include; sewing and textiles, food and nutrition, expressive arts, natural sciences, horticulture, knitting, crotchet, fiber arts, leather craft, woodworking, home environment, fiber arts, and photography.

Clackamas County 4-H HEARTH Advisory Committee

Leaders, parents and youth members who have an interest in the Clackamas County 4-H HEARTH project areas are encouraged to attend monthly meetings on the third Monday of each month (except August, September, and December) at the Extension Office in Oregon City at 7:00 pm.

This committee is responsible for planning and implementing educational opportunities and events, fundraising for awards and scholarships, and management of the 4-H Static exhibits and contests at Clackamas County Fair.

FCS Contest and Study Materials

Information and study materials for Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) Contests in Foods, Sewing, Designing Spaces and Consumer Decision Making. Youth who participate in this contest can qualify to be on the Oregon State team that competes nationally at the Western National Roundup in Denver.

Awards and advancements

  • Clothing and Textile Award (in English): You learn and grow when you continue to challenge yourself. Please use this form to apply for an award to recognize your achievements in your clothing and textile project.
  • Expressive Arts Award (in English): You learn and grow when you continue to challenge yourself. Please use this form to apply for an award to recognize your achievements in your expressive art project.
  • Foods Award (in English): An award presented to a well rounded 4H’er in the Food project. Turn this completed form into the 4H fair office by 5:00 pm Wednesday of fair. It can only be earned once per level.
  • HEARTH Award (in English): Have you gone the extra mile in your HEARTH projects? Apply for this award - due Wednesday of County Fair.
  • Fashion Revue award: To apply for the Fashion Revue Award, submit a one-page essay detailing how and why you created your outfit, with emphasis on anything you did to be even more creative (combining patterns, embellishments, etc.).

Back to Basics and Trail Clinics (in English)

These two popular clinics will be offered on the same day at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds & Event Center. Back to Basics is for new members or members who are using a new horse this year. It will start at 8:00 am and go to about noon. The Trail Clinic will begin at 1:00 pm. To get the most out of the Trail Clinic, members should already possess basic riding skills and be able to make their horses back up, side pass, and pivot. Each clinic has a $10.00 registration fee. Back to Basics and Trail Clinics (in English)

These two popular clinics will be offered on the same day at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds & Event Center. Back to Basics is for new members or members who are using a new horse this year. It will start at 8:00 am and go to about noon. The Trail Clinic will begin at 1:00 pm. To get the most out of the Trail Clinic, members should already possess basic riding skills and be able to make their horses back up, side pass, and pivot. Each clinic has a $10.00 registration fee. The following options are recommended: a Clackamas County 4-H committee, the Oregon 4-H Foundation, or other approved charitable organization (MUST be approved by the County Extension agent).
