YQCA and Animal Ethics Training

• If you are a 4-H member age 9-18, and you are participating in cattle, goats, sheep, swine, or llama/alpaca you MUST complete the YQCA training and upload your certificate before you may enter County Fair.
• If you are a 4-H member age 9-18, and you are participating horse, rabbit, cavy, poultry, dogs, or cats you MUST EITHER complete the YQCA training or attend a statewide zoom training for your project area. Then, you will upload your certificate or registration confirmation before you enter County Fair. The statewide training will not meet the certificate requirement for livestock.
• If you only are in herpetology, Cloverbuds, or non-animal projects, this training requirement does not apply to you.
• If you took the training in 2025 and provided us with the certificate, you have met the requirements until August 2027.
• Any way that you complete training through YQCA in 2026 is valid. Other counties may offer workshops. If you have taken the YQCA training on your own or through another organization, your certificate is good for 4-H too.

There are options to take trainings in person, on zoom, or at your own pace online. IMPORTANT: Register online with Clackamas 4-H to tell us which option or training session you are choosing! It is incredibly important that you sign up in advance. If you skip this step, you may not get credit for participating in the training, you will not get a discount coupon, and your preferred session may be full.

The certification program requires you to create an online account with YQCA. You will need to take a pre-test and a post-test online if you are participating in person. Each in-person training has a limited number of seats. Seating for adults may also be limited.

The zoom sessions will include a survey to report your attendance. These sessions will not be recorded. Members should expect to actively participate.

Clackamas County will be offering in-person training on two separate dates.

• Monday February 23rd, 6:00 – 7:30 pm Clackamas County Extension Annex
• Wednesday April 29th, 19 6:00 – 8:00 pm Clackamas County Extension Annex

These specialty statewide training dates will be held on Zoom. We will send you the login information after you register.

• Small Animals & Dogs: Thursday, January 29, 6:00 -7:30 pm
• Horses: Tuesday, February 24, 6:00-7:30 pm
• Small Animals & Dogs: Thursday, May 14, 6:00-7:30 pm
• Horses: Wednesday, May 27, 6:00-7:30 pm

The YQCA program costs $3 for in-person certification and $12 for the online certification. After you register with the link above, we will send you a $3 coupon code. This code will cover the cost of in-person training or will give you a discount for the online training. Each coupon can be used one time. We are covering the costs of the coupons and workshop materials with the funds received from the Coastal Country Supplier’s 4-H Round-Up campaign. If you take the animal ethics zoom training for horses or for small animals, there is no fee (but also no certificate).
