Boots on the Ground is a hands-on gardening series created specifically for veterans who want to build new skills, connect with others, and grow their confidence in the garden. Meeting twice a month from April through August, this program guides participants through the full gardening journey—from planting and soil care to harvesting and even selling produce in a market setting.

The series is co-taught by Logan Bennett and Army Veteran/Master Gardener™ Dawnetta Loomis, both bringing practical expertise and a supportive learning environment to every session. Sponsored by the Douglas County Master Gardener Association, Boots on the Ground offers veterans an opportunity to learn gardening A–Z while fostering community, wellness, and self‑reliance.
