Douglas County School Forestry Tour 2023

We are pleased to announce that the OSU Extension Service will be offering the Douglas County School Forestry Tour this spring!

The Forestry Tour is geared toward 5th-grade students but 4/5 and 5/6 blend classrooms are welcome to reserve space.

The Tour dates are April 19-21 (Wednesday through Friday), from 9 am – 1:30 pm (9 am – 1:15 pm on Wednesday).

Please arrive no later than 9 am so your class(es) can line up in time for the Tour to begin. The Tour will begin promptly at 9:20 am.

The Tour is located at the Glide Educational Forest – just 12 miles east of Roseburg on Hwy 138 (behind the Glide Transfer Station). Don’t miss this fun event! If you have not yet participated in this 50+ year tradition, a description of the Tour is enclosed.

Reserve your spot at the Tour by April 3, 2023.

If you plan to share a bus with other classes from your school, please submit your registrations at the same time so we can schedule all classes for the same day. Tours are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, so register your class as soon as possible! You will receive an e-mail confirmation once registration is complete. (If you would prefer to register by mail, please use the registration form to mail your registration to Holly).

The Oregon Forest Resources Institute (OFRI) can reimburse your bus expenses for attending the 2023 Douglas County School Forestry Tour! The reimbursement form is only available online. The reimbursement form can be submitted on the OFRI website.

Your school should already have a copy of the School Forestry Tour booklet and Teacher’s Supplement booklets. These provide classroom activity ideas to use in preparation for the Tour.
