This presentation will cover the what, where, why, when, and how of ticks. We will learn about tick life cycles, preferred habitats, and potential tick-borne diseases common to Southwest Oregon. Proper tick removal and mitigation strategies actions to avoid infestations will be reviewed. The class is offered in both Zoom and in-person formats.
Instructor Biography
Jim Clover is a retired public-health biologist with a specialty in vector-borne diseases and vector control. His emphasis on ticks developed during his 25 years with California Department of Health Services and subsequent years as a consultant in California and Oregon. Jim developed and coordinated a statewide Lyme-disease monitoring program for the state of California and served on various committees and advisory panels to the State and Governor. He has traveled extensively in Northern California and Oregon in his work and developed intimate knowledge of ticks, their habitats, and life cycles. He has co-authored numerous published studies on ticks and other vectors.
