Thank you for your interest in the Clatsop County OSU Master Gardener™ Volunteer Program!
This is a dynamic program that will increase your gardening knowledge, encourage you to help others by volunteering in the community, and build new friendships.
Here’s an overview of the class requirements:
- Live classes. Our classes are offered from early January to late April each year on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 pm, with a few Saturday classes from 10 am - 1 pm. Classes take place in person in Astoria, OR with the option to join remotely via Zoom or watch class recordings later. Interactive classes encourage you to dive deep into learning and connect with other program participants.
- Online learning modules are taught by OSU experts and provide fundamental horticulture knowledge. The modules include videos, readings, and quizzes on all aspects of sustainable gardening. These serve as a supplement to the live classes and can be completed at your own pace.
- Volunteer hours are the third key learning experience to become an OSU Master Gardener volunteer. We require 40 hours of volunteer service in your initial program year. All volunteer experiences are carefully selected to help you learn and connect with the community. The Clatsop County Master Gardener Association (CCMGA) is OSU’s partner in offering volunteer experiences in support of the Master Gardener Program.
The class fee is $150 (partial scholarships of $75 are available).
