Polk County Master Gardeners maintain several gardens throughout Polk County to serve as inspiration to local gardeners and provide a location for outreach and education programs. All are open to the public to tour.
The Inspiration Garden is a demonstration garden created by the OSU Polk County Master Gardener Assoc in order to promote sustainable gardening practices and to provide educational outreach programs to the Polk County community. The Inspiration Garden is located at 790 F St in Independence, as part of Mt Fir Park.
The Dallas Youth Garden is a garden ran by Dallas Highschool students. The students are paid as hired interns for the summer to plan, plant, care, and harvest the garden. Polk County Master gardeners can gain volunteer hours by helping teach the youth about gardening in the garden.
