Enrollment - Volunteer

A caring and supportive relationship with an adult is a critical component of the 4-H youth development program. 4-H youth thrive because of you!

4-H relies on many types of volunteers to make our programming great! Types of volunteer opportunities include:

  • Club Leaders: meet with youth once a month to educate and engage in hands-on activities related to their project of interest
  • Resource Leaders: support leaders for our Club Leaders, but not in charge of planning educational content
  • Event Volunteers: volunteers to support a variety of 4-H programming including camps, workshops, conferences, and fair

4-H Adult Volunteer enrollment is open September 1st through December 31!

Interested in volunteering?

Volunteers are a vital part of our program. There are many different opportunities for interested volunteers in every project area we have. From being a club leader to a project volunteer with a specified skill set, to joining one of our different committees (camp, livestock, horse, fair, static, shooting sports and more). We can't do it without you!

Please contact Em Cheramie or the Curry County Extension Office to learn more about the innovative 4-H programs happening in Curry County and learn how to get involved.

Both new and returning leaders enroll as 4-H Volunteers each year starting in September. The enrollment process includes:

  1. Youth Safety Training
  2. 4-H Online application forms
  3. Criminal History Check (every 2 years)
  4. Providing 3 references (new volunteers only)
  5. 3 hours of education on positive youth development and 4-H program foundations (new leaders only)

Returning Volunteers; 4-H Online 2.0 Family Enrollment Guide 2025-26

The returning volunteer packet is available to print and return to the Curry County 4-H office or you can email it to Em.Cheramie@oregonstate.edu
