August 22nd | 8:30 – 10:30am: SOREC Dry Farm Melon Field Tour

Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center

569 Hanley Rd, Central Point, OR

The Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center (SOREC) is showcasing a melon variety trial that includes five top performing dry farm melon varieties, irrigated in 4 different ways: grower standard, as well as a low (30%), medium (50%), and high (70%) soil water deficit, using soil moisture sensors to inform irrigation scheduling. Join this field day to learn how to utilize soil moisture sensors to reduce irrigation usage, and taste the difference between delicious melon varieties grown with different amounts of water. Organized by OSU Small Farms Extension.
