NRCS Urban Ag, EQIP, and CSP Info Sessions

Join Natural Resources Conservation Service staff, farmers, and other agricultural professionals online Thursday, November 21st from 2:30-3:30 pm to learn from farmers and conservationists about the EQIP and CSP programs including the new Urban Resilience and Rainwater Harvesting Initiatives and how they might work for your farm.

Farmers will share their experience with these financial assistance programs and their experiences working with the NRCS (farmers TBD), Stephanie Payne of NRCS will provide details on application and eligibility, and there will be ample time for a Q&A.

A bit more about the new initiatives:

The Urban Resiliency Initiative provides financial and technical support to address challenges with contaminated soils and provides cost-share on conservation practices that help improve growing conditions for crop production in urban spaces. Cost-share is available for soil testing, low tunnels, raised beds, mulching, compost, and more.

The Rainwater Harvesting Initiative provides funding to address challenges related to ponding, flooding, sheet and rill erosion, and inefficient irrigation water usage on urban working lands. Cost-share is available for rainwater harvest catchment systems, including things like water storage tanks, pumps, pipeline, and micro-irrigation systems. Note: engineering design for these projects is provided by NRCS at no-cost to the client. Design completion is estimated at roughly 1 year from contract signing. Implementation for an NRCS funded project may not begin until engineering design has been completed.

If producers in Oregon want to be considered in the large pool of funding, they should apply for EQIP by November 29th.
