Advanced Forest Inventory
Advanced Forest Inventory. October 31, 2018. 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This class will introduce you to an exciting new tool you can use to create your own forest inventory. This amazing online program allows woodland owners to create a map of their forest parcel, design a cruise for that parcel and then transfer the cruise to your favorite smart phone or tablet. The app GPS program will guide you from your desk to the exact sample plot field locations where you enter plot data such as species, diameters and heights on the device. When done, click a button and voila, the cruise is calculated for you. Sounds like Sci-Fi but it’s the real deal! Come to the class and learn about the advantages of these great tools and how you can confidently create your own forest inventory. The class will begin at the OSU Union County Extension office, 10507 N. McAlister Rd, La Grande, where you will be shown how to design a cruise on line. Then the class will move to the field where we’ll conduct an actual cruise on the line. Bring your own laptop computer and a sack lunch.
