We generally recommend cleaning the refrigerator four times a year, once each season. Here are some guidelines from PennState for a clean and healthy refrigerator. I would also suggest checking the temperature to make certain it is between 34°F and 40°F. This will keep foods fresh and safe as long as possible and reduce the likelihood of mold or bacteria growth if some foods get overlooked in the refrigerator for a long period of time.
