More Webinars and Virtual Tours to Lookout For

Future Projects

While our team has adjusted to being at home more, we miss offering in-person classes and field tours. Since we are still not certain when we will be able to plan in-person events, Glenn and Amanda have been getting creative. Similar to what Peter Matzka has done over at Hopkins Demonstration Forest, we are working on developing digital education beyond webinars for our local woodland owner community.

What to look out for:

  • Video stories featuring your local Extension Forester, Glenn Ahrens, where he will demonstrate forest management methods and more
  • 3-D tour of Hopkins featuring pictures and videos demonstrating forest management methods
  • Woodland tours
  • And yes, even some webinars featuring Glenn and local partners

Once content is created, it will be available on our new Extension Forestry and Natural Resources Youtube channel. We will also continue to share new videos and webinars on our Facebook page and monthly in our Forestry Corner e-newsletter.

Tree School Online Moves Forward With the Partnership for Forestry Education

While we will not be offering two classes per week as we have been doing since March, Extension is continuing to work with the Partnership for Forestry Education on plans to continue offering the Tree School Online webinar series to our Oregon forestry community resuming on September 15 from 3 - 4:30 pm with "Biology & Management of Western Redcedar" followed by "Thinking About the Future of Your Forest: Passing It Onto the Next Owner" on October 6 then "LandMapper: Find Your Property, Explore Your Land, and Print Your Map!"On October 20, and "Fish Habitat and Riparian Management" on November 3.

We do not know what the future has in store for us as we begin thinking about Clackamas Tree School 2021, but you will have the opportunity to continue through Tree School Online. Stay tuned! More information will be available soon.

UPDATE (7-30-20):
If you are on the Know Your Forest Tree School Registration page, you will notice some new webinars outside of the previously mentioned Tree School Online Schedule. Our Eastern Oregon Extension agents have been working to produce a series of webinars that are geared toward the unique forests of Eastern Oregon. The Forests of Eastern Oregon series will be another great opportunity to learn more about forestry and forests in Oregon.
