For wise landscaping wood any of our native, durable species should work well for you - western redcedar or Port-Orford-cedar. And even Oregon white oak is quite durable. And of course, as you said, western juniper would also make a very good choice. I have several 6x6's as landscaping on my yard in western Oregon and they show no signs of decay after 8 years of ground contact.
