Is my tree truly dead?

We have a cedar that has lost its needles. Drought or something else? Should it be taken down?

Evergreen trees that have turned entirely red or have lost all their needles will not recover, unfortunately. Several things could have caused your tree to die - could be drought, insects, root problems, or a combination of factors. Unless you want a dead tree as part of your landscaping then it should be taken down.
