I have lived in Oregon all my life and never seen this kind of bug before, what is it? It's not very fast moving, this one wasn't anyway.

These beetles lay their eggs on the dead branches of certain tree such as alder, maple, oak and willow. In spite of their large size, they do not damage people, pets, or structures.
